TitleLetter from Sir Lawrence Dundas (Munster) to his wife 'Peggie' at George Street, hanover Square
Description'My dearest Peggie, I have nothing to say to you just now but that I am very well and hope to hold out so this summer. I am busy in preparations for the campagne which will soon come on as I wrote you formerly. If I keep my health I make not question of being very useful to the publick and also doing myself some materiall service. You will write me as often as you possibly can for it is a great cordial to hear from friends in England to everybody here.
i am in great expectations to see Mastertone here. He would be of great use to me in many things. I wrote the body and made him offers that I think is worth his acceptance. You will talk to him upon it and if he can come over with Thomie I will meet them at Utrecht and conduct him here. Mr Ross aught to settle the method of getting Thomie passports through France beofre he leaves London, or if you will write to Gordon who is just now at Bath to give Thomie letters to his friend at Brussells desiring that he may be furnished with proper passports to go through France it will answer as well, because they can get at Rotterdam passports for Brussells and desire the favour of Gordon to recommend him partcularly to his friend.
When you write to Scotland tell my good old father that I am well and I hope to find him in good health at the end of this campagne when I come home. Write John Moir to go on with his plan whcih will I hope be finished this summer. I shall be glad to know when you have time what is doing at Kerse. My compliments to all friends, the Collis, old Balckie. Tell him if he will come over he shall command my train which altogether consists of more men than the strongest regiment here, and if he fall sick he shall be properly attended, for I have no less in pay than a surjen major and two mates. Adieu my dearest life. I am your L D.
He may bring Mrs Christian with him for I have great need of a person to mend and wash my linnen.
