TitleLetter from Thomas Dundas (Letham) to his daughter in law, wife of Sir Lawrence Dundas
Description'My Dear Pegie
I hade the pleasure of your last the 6th Febry, with the account of my sons safe arrivall in London since whcih I have my sons of the 23 Febr. I am sorie to see he hase been so much distress'd by the gout. It gives me great concern that in his letter he does not give me the hopes of haveing the pleaseure of seeing him here. I am very sensible it is not an easie matter for him to give up such an extensive affair as he is ingaged in, as long as the warr contunous. If he shall be obliged to go abroad my nixt hope and relieff is the expectation of having the pleasure of your agreeable company in this country. I am now not able to take the trouble and fatigue of a ferm or the care of family affairs and servants, hase made me resolve to live with my son and Lady Janet. If I hade been so happy as to have hade your company at Kerse, it might have prevented me leaving my own house. My great concern is about Willie what to do about him; he is so unsettled in his disposition; he hase been a long touble to me; poor man he can not help it. It is a great mercy to all concerned that it hath pleased God to recover Bettsie so well, and Pegie does very well; she is much obliged to you. My son writes me Tamie was very well when he heard from him and that he was to pass the winter att Turin. I hope you have got the better of your complaints. I am with best wishes to you and my son, my dear Pegie
