Description | Captain Mackay of Strathy has heard from Mr Honeyman that all the gentlemen of that county are still unfixed but resolved to give their vote to whoever will redress their grievances. David Anderson has shown him a letter from Traill (?) of Westness which explains that a a dispute between Lord Moreton and the Crown feuers was settled in formers favour and the latter wish Sir Lawrence to reduce the feu duty. This plan seems to have been encouraged by Mitchelson. Advises Sir Lawrence to ensure other support through Mr Pringle. Has replied to Strathy arguing against the feuers attitude and urging them to change |
