DescriptionTitle deeds, most of which relate to property in Northallerton and land in the North Moor. Parties include Merrigton, Wayles, Hall, Duck, Hutchinson, Sayer, Oastler, Appleton, Chapman, Conyers, Squire, Bunting, Troy, Jopson, Johnson. There is also a lease and release of houses and closes in Great and Little Fencoat in Kirby Fleetham, and a mortgage of closes in the Lordship of Murton and Manor of the Prebend of Strensall by the Reverend William Dawson of Northallerton clerk to William Squire of Northallerton, grocer 1660-1755.
Probate records including probates of wills of Francis Cornforth of Durham City alderman, Robert Simpson of Darlington gentleman giving legacies to Francis Cuthbert and Elizabeth Cornforth, and Richard Appleton of Northallerton Felmonger 1736-1790.
Receipts, bills, powers of attorney and miscellaneous documents, including a certificate of death of Cuthbert Cornforth who was on board the Victory when it last sailed from Portsmouth before being lost with all hands 1729-1752.
Correspondence concerned with powers of attorney and other matters. Letters between Samuel Appleton of Northallerton and Cuthbert Cornforth senior and John Maire of Grays Inn conveyancer appointed to receive money for legatees. Also letters to and from Henry Peirse esquire MP at Westminster whose help was enlisted. Also correspondence with William Squire in Northallerton and others 1744-1752.
Included in this collection is an apothecary's bill of medicines supplied in 1743 by Thomas Laidman to Mr Robert Simpson.
