Lordship and manor of Gilmanby in the county of Richmond lately belonging to the dissolved monastery of the Blessed Mary the Virgin nigh the walls of the City of York, and messuage, tenement and 1 close of land called Cragill and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose and Bulynges in the tenancy of Charles Dent and a messuage and 1 close called Cragill and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Henry Pynkney, a cottage and 4 acres in the tenancy of George Alderson, a cottage, croft and "unam le peroke" and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Isabel Whitwell; a messuage and 1 close and another close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Richard Hawmeby and 2 cottages and "una le perocke" and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Agnes Whitell; 2 cottages and 1 le perocke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Anthony Whitell; a cottage and 1 le perocke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Thomas Taillour, a messuage and 1 le perocke and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of John and Ralph Garth; a cottage a 1 le peroke and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of John Hawmeby and all that le perocke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of GiIes Hawmeby and a messuage and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Thomas Alderson and a cottage and 3 acres arable in the tenancy of Christopher Thomson and all that le peroke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Ralph Rokeby, a messuage and one le peroke and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Ralph Hawmeby, and a messuage and 1 le peroke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of Michael Wilson, a messuage and 1 le peroke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of George Hawmeby, a cottage and 2 acres arable land in the tenancy of Widow Dent, a messuage and 1 le peroke and a close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of John Whitell, a messuage and 1 le peroke and 1 close called Le Estclose and Le Westclose in the tenancy of William Hawmeby which messuages, lands, tenements, closes "lez perockes" and other the premises...are situate, lying and being in Gilmawby and Cragill in the said county of Richmond and to the lordship or manor appertaining and parcel of the possession of the said former monastery...; Also the void plot of land or "le Gardenne plotte" in the parish of St. Margaret in Lothbury [Margare] in city of London containing in length North and South 72 feet of assize and in length East and West 71 feet assize, lately parcel of the lands and possessions of the former monastery ["de Gracis juxta Turrim London" - Abbey of St. Mary de Gratiis juxta Turrim] resigned and dissolved and a certain void parcel of land or the Garden Plot aforesaid, demised to Robert Phillip, citizen and cloth worker of London by indenture of 15th March 1538, for 40 years from Lady Day, then last and at a peppercorn rent .... reserving to the Crown all advowsons, rights of patronage to the said lordship or manor and other the premises in anywise pertaining.

Present annual value of the property derived from St. Mary, York is £11 16s 0d the void plot or garden plot in Lothbury, London, is worth 6s 8d.
To hold the manor and its appurtenants formerly belonging to St. Mary, York of the Crown in Capite by the service of one fortieth part of a knight's fee and rent of 23s 7 1/2d. to the Court of Augmentation at Michaelmas.

To hold the void or garden plot in Lothbury formerly belonging to the monastery of Grace, of the Crown in free burgage of the City of London by fealty and not in capite. Grant of Courts Leet, profits of Courts, frankpledge etc., fines, amerciaments, as the former Abbots...

Subject to 13s 4d yearly issuing from the manor etc., and granted to Thomas Hennage Kt., by Letters Patent for term of his life for collection of the rents and farm of the said lordship, and the abovementioned demise of the void garden plot to the said Robert Phillip and all other former demises and all other covenanted payments.

Grant to John Halile of the rents of the premises frm Lady Day last to present date.

Parchment, 2 membranes, mildewed but still very fair. Elaborate headline ornamented by the pen with the King enthroned, badges etc., but mediocre workmanship.

Endorsed in mid 17th century hand: "The Patent to William Halilie late sonne of Thomas late of South Milforthe in the county of Yorke for the mannor of Gillmaunby, as far as this patent showeth in the county of York the defect is for that it is sett downe heare to be in the county of Richmond where it should be Yorke cum scitum manerij vnum clasum vocate' Cowclose ac duas clausas voc' Eastclose Westclose".
