From 8 October 1821 the highway has been in disrepair in the township of Burniston from a stone post dividing the road repaired by the township of Harwood Dale from that repaired by the township of Burniston, eastward to another stone post dividing the road repaired by the township of Burniston from that repaired by the township of Cloughton, being 2,500 yards in length and 20 feet in breadth
