DescriptionThis sub-fonds contains records concerned with the financial affairs of the Riding and the Court of Quarter Sessions, and in particular with the County Treasurer or Treasurers. It consists of records relating to Finance and County Rate Committees, including:

Finance Committee:
- draft or rough minutes [1837-1839, 1840-1841, and 1858-1885]
- committee clerk's correspondence and papers including correspondence of William Mauleverer, a member of the Committee, and of the Chairman, applications for the post of treasurer, 1856, letters and papers relating to the suspension and later the resignation of William Swine as County Treasurer, 1877 (see also QFZ) and papers used in the preparation of the Reports of the Finance Committee to Quarter Sessions (to be found in the Special Order books (QSM 4)) with draft reports of the Finance Committee Bridgewaters' Accounts, Clerk of the Peace's Office Accounts and Special Orders used as precedents (includes from 1863 sessional bundles, an incomplete series) [1834-1886]
- papers of the committee appointed to enquire into the loss of £1700 [1856]
- Finance Committee papers, including letters addressed to the chairman of the committee, mainly about committee matters [1861-1885]

County Rate Committee:
- draft or rough minutes [1859-1865, 1870-1880, and 1885-1886]
