| Administrative history | The records here are awards (many with maps) made by commissioners appointed either under private and local Acts (a separate Act obtained for each enclosure) or under the General Inclosure Acts of 1836 (6 & 7 William IV cap. 115) and 1845 (8 & 9 Victoria cap. 118), and later Acts, and enrolled or deposited with the Clerk of the Peace under these Acts. They relate either to the inclosure of open fields and meadows or of commons and moorland. |
