TitleWilliam Chaytor of Spennithorne (d1819): purchase of Walmire
DescriptionWalmire had been the property of the Clervaux family and was sold by Thomas Chaytor of Croft to Wearmouth in 1639. When it came on the market under Chancery decree in 1761 William Chaytor was anxious to bring it back into the family's possession no doubt for sentimental reasons and because it adjoined the remainder of the Croft estate.
