Aged about 68 years. He knows all parties to the case. He has always lived in Scorton and never has heard of any tithe of hay for any lands in Scorton paid or recieved in kind but that an ancient rate of 4s 6d per year was paid as recompense for the tithe of hay in Scorton by the tenants of Johnson’s lands to the farmer of the tithes and borne by owners and occupiers of all Scorton land; payment never refused till nine years ago until the late Richard Fawcett (to whom John Burton had conveyed the tithe hay and corn) refused to receive the tithe. He knew Leonard Wastell, who was farmer of the tithes of hay and corn in Scorton, who constantly received the composition (as above) of 4s 6d from the owners and farmers of Johnsons lands in Scorton and never received any tithe
