(2) Indenture of partition, 28 October 1736, between Ambrose Edwards of Barnard Castle esq, and William Aislaby of Bowes and son John, yeomen, (Ambrose Edwards being seized in fee of west moiety of close called the Riggs on north side of High Street leading from Bowes to Greta Bridge, adjoining moiety of William and John Aislaby on east, on other lands of Ambrose Edwards on west and south and on other lands of William Aislaby on south; and William and John Aislahy being seized in fee of other moiety). Agreement for William and John Aislaby to have north end of close as then divided from east - west by a Roan tree on west side in a hedge belonging to William Alderson, Ambrose Edwards to have south side.
(3) Will of John Aisleby, yeoman, of Bowes, 4 September 1749, bequeathing his dwelling house etc. with garth "at the back thereof" and all freehold land, pasture gates etc. to his nephew Thomas Aisleby (executor).
(4) Settlement (prenuptual), 16 March 1764: (1) Thomas Aisleby of Bowes, butcher, and Bridget his wife (2) Michael Aisleby, son of Thomas Aisleby, of Bowes, butcher, and Martha Binks, daughter of Thomas Binks of Stony Keld par. Bowes, yeoman. Messuage called Little High Field, with land (2 acres); also those 3 days work of land commonly called the Riggs.
