TitleInspeximus of a decree made in the Court of Wards, Trinity Term, 1618.
DescriptionRecites an inquisition taken at Pontefract ll August 1604 on death of William Hallilee of Gilmonby, yeoman, when it was found that th deceased had been seized of the manor of Gilmonby with appurtenance lately in the possession of the dissolved monastery of St. Marys within the walls of York City and of and in 9 messuages, 10 cottages, 150 acres meadow, 150 acres arable, 200 acres pasture, 300 acres furze and heath with appurtenances in Gilmonby, held in capite and at rent of 23s 7 1/2d.

(2) death of William Hallilee previous September 10.

(3) that William Hallilee, son of Thomas Hallilee, son of William Hallilee deceased, was his heir and grandson and aged 14 years

(4) that the auditor general of the court of Wards had imposed 2 charge one of £29 3s 8 1/2d. for arrearages within age and the other of £24 13s 10 1/2d for rates of full age

(5) that the "terr tenants" of the manor had informed the Master of the Court that the said William Hallilee when seized of the manor had with his son Thomas about 20 years previously demised the manor to the said "terr tenante" for 1000 years, at rent of £12 per annum.

(6) that Council had found that the decision awarding His Majesty the wardship of William, junior, was void and therefore not transferable.

(7) that the tenants were poor and had "not warranty to save them harmeles against William, junior, and had petitioned upon payment of a fine that the inquisition might be annulled and all processes thereon discharged.

Ordered that upon payment of a fine of 5 marks and a composition for a fine, William Hallilee junior was to be allowed all the arrearages within age and full age and all processes and that the said manor and lands and the occupiers thereof should be discharged from the same and of and from the value of marriage, wardship and of the sueing forth of any livery on the death of the said William or for paying any rates within age or full age whatsoever, and from all charges, processes and that lastly no writs or commissions should be awarded henceforth to inquire on the death of the said William Hallilee deceased.
