With certificate of conviction at the Quarter Sessions for the East Riding held at Beverley on 2 July 1883 of William Battersby for stealing three cotton shirts, the property of William Lund (Battersby having also previously been convicted of felony at the Quarter Sessions for the East Riding held at Beverley on 18 October 1880). Battersby was sentenced to hard labour at the prison at Hull for 18 calendar months, and then to be subject to police supervision for a further five years. Certificate dated 27 June 1888
