TitleReport of the Chaplain
DescriptionAnnual report of T. Martin Netherclift chaplain on the religious and moral position of the prisoners, the number of commitments, prisoners' behaviour, and the causes of children becoming inmates of the gaol. He recommends longer periods of imprisonment for those convicted more than two or three times for drunkenness. The treadwheel [sic] has been at full work since 1 February and the majority of prisoners prefer it to picking oakum; which he therefore considers must be a better deterrent as a punishment
