Description | Letter from W.R. Briscoe at Newbiggin in Bishopdale to the Clerk of the Peace at Northallerton. He has written to Mr Topham about his certificate of exemption as a juryman, and Topham has replied that he thinks that Briscoe will have been fined by the court for non-attendance. Briscoe says that he was told that he would be in time if he got there by the 9.30 train, and Richard Whaley of Hawes, also a Grand Juryman, came by the same train. When he (Briscoe) arrived, he was told that he was not required and Mr Masterman, who was on the door, would not admit him or allow him to explain matters |
