Description | Bill of indictment of George Atkin late of the House of Correction at Northallerton labourer and servant of Thomas Dawson of Breckengill in the parish of Coverham for obtaining by deception a pair of corded trousers value 5s, the property of Nicholas Raper. Atkin falsely pretended to Nicholas Raper that Dawson was sending him with his (Dawson's) horse, to Durham races on the following day, and that unless Raper let him have a new pair of trousers he would not be able to go and so would miss his ride and lose the sum of £2.
