Description | Bill of indictment of William Laking late of the township of Stokesley labourer and clerk of works for the inhabitants of the North Riding for the rebuilding of Bence Bridge, and known as such to James White Worsley esquire, Bridge Master and Surveyor of Bridges for the North Riding. Laking falsely pretended to Worsley that he had paid George Harker, James Cook, John Harker, Johnson Wilson and Robert Ramsey £10 each for breaking stones at the rate of 2s a ton of blue flint stones for 60 tons, and so defrauded the inhabitants of the North Riding
