| Description | Paper for the Quarter Sessions to be held on 12 July 1824, to oppose the discharge of John Collier, a pauper belonging to Normanby, now confined in the House of Correction as a vagrant. The prisoner declared that as soon as he was released, he would again run away and leave his family to be maintained by the parish. Some time ago, the overseers build a comfortable cottage for him and his family to live in, which he sold for £5, left the parish for a few weeks, and then returned in distress. This is the third time that he has been in prison at Northallerton; he is one of the worst of characters |
