Shepperd agreed that the dwelling house and blacksmith's shop occupied by Thomas Mercer adjoining the bridge would be taken down and set back eastwards to a line drawn from the new east wall of the bridge to the north-west angle of a house belonging to Mr Joseph Robinson and occupied by John Newby. The piece of land left open would become part of the bridge and road
In exchange, Scarth agreed Sir George would have the garths and premises purchased by the Trustees from George Blades and Francis Gibson, which hadn't been needed for the bridge |
