DescriptionCopy of a memorandum of an agreement made on 28 September 1805 between John Shepperd agent to Sir George Wombwell baronet and Michael Scarth for the Trustees of the Turnpike Road leading from Thirsk to Yarm Bridge

Shepperd agreed that the dwelling house and blacksmith's shop occupied by Thomas Mercer adjoining the bridge would be taken down and set back eastwards to a line drawn from the new east wall of the bridge to the north-west angle of a house belonging to Mr Joseph Robinson and occupied by John Newby. The piece of land left open would become part of the bridge and road
