Description | Information and complaint of George Atkinson of Hagg Cottage in the parish of Grinton architect and surveyor of bridges. On 16 July 1822 at about 8 o'clock at night, he was accosted in the passage of the George and Dragon public house in Northallerton by John Reed of Northallerton painter who charged him with not doing his duty regarding painting done by him (Reed) at the House of Correction at Northallerton. Reed followed him into the street using very abusive language, and followed him to the inn kept by Mr Hirst (where Atkinson stays when he is in Northallerton), and through the house into the yard, continuing to abuse him and saying that Atkinson had robbed him. Atkinson asks for John Reed to be called on by the court to find sureties for his good behaviour |
