DescriptionRecognizance dated 11 May 1822 made by James Kirkbride of Ellerton servant and John Gill of Kirby Ravensworth mason, for the appearance of Kirkbride at the next Quarter Sessions as father of the bastard child of Isabella Lawson singlewoman, which when born is likely to be chargeable to the township of Gayles

Order dated 9 July 1822 for James Kirkbride of the township of Constable Burton labourer to pay towards the maintenance of the bastard son of Isabella Lawson singlewoman, born on 20 May 1822 at Manfield, with a certificate from the township of Gayles, to which township the child is chargeable

Undated letter from R.M. Atkinson to Mr Wailes deputy Clerk of the Peace at Northallerton. The recognizance made by John Gill, and James Kirkbride as father of Isabella Lawson's child, has been sent to the Court at Northallerton by mistake, as Kirkbride has paid maintenance for the child. The recognizance was taken by Mr Readshaw before the birth of the child, and he is now away from home; and the order was made after the child was born. The recognizance should now be destroyed
