Description | Order to the Treasurer of the North Riding to pay the constable of Brompton for conveying George Pearson from Scarborough to the House of Correction at Northallerton
By her deposition on 19 August 1817, Agnes Watson of the township of Brompton singlewoman stated that her bastard son was born in the township of Brompton on 16 September 1816, and that the child was then chargeable to the township of Brompton. George Pearson of Pickering servant in husbandry was the father, and was ordered to pay towards the costs of the birth and towards the child's maintenance. Pearson refused to pay anything or to make a recognizance to appear at the next Quarter Sessions, and so was committed to the House of Correction on 20 August 1817 |
