Description | Petition from five acting magistrates for the east division of Pickering Lythe to the magistrates of the North Riding. Robert Drake has executed the duties of chief constable for the division very imperfectly for the last ten years because of his great age and infirmities. He has been almost totally incapacitated for the last two years, and so should therefore be replaced by someone capable of performing the duties. John Willoughby of Wykeham is such a person, especially as he would allow Robert Drake to keep the emoluments of his office for the remainder of his life |
