DescriptionCopy court roll recording the surrender by John Dobson of Pickering schoolmaster and customary tenant of the manor of Pickering of a piece of land at the foot of the Potter Hill in Pickering, being the site of a cottage lately occupied by Thomas Barker as a smith's shop extending northwards about 5 yards from the messuage belonging to the said John Dobson, and lately taken to widen the public carriage bridge across the river in Pickering; and the admittance of Thomas Hayes of Aislaby esquire to hold the property in trust to be used as directed by the Justices of the Peace in Quarter Sessions
