DescriptionBills of expenses of Christopher Smith contractor for conveying vagrants in and through the North Riding. Includes:

- order dated 23 July 1797 for Hannah Shepherd, travelling with a pass from the mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne having been apprehended there as a vagrant, to be conveyed from Eryholme to her place of settlement in Stokesley. Annotated with costs

- note dated 24 July 1797 and signed by the overseers of the poor of Stokesley that they have received H. Shipard from Christopher Smith in a pass cart

- order dated 6 November 1797 for Jane Clement and her two children, travelling with a pass from the Clerk of the Peace for county Durham having been apprehended in the city of Durham as vagrants, to be conveyed in a cart from Eryholme to Boroughbridge in the West Riding on their way to their place of settlement at Plymouth in Devon. Annotated with costs
