Description | Conviction of James Dove of the parish of Whitby gentleman for using a gun to kill game; on the information of William Dawson the younger of the parish of Whitby gentleman. A witness, Thomas Hustwick of Howsham, gamekeeper to Henry Cholmley esquire, lord of the manor of Whitby, stated that he saw Dove on the land of Jonathan Lacy with three pointers or setting dogs. He heard the gun go off and saw the fire flash; and saw two partridges flying away. He then saw Dove going into another field in search of game
