DescriptionRecognizance dated 5 May 1791 made by James Armstrong late of Whitby husbandman and George Armstrong of Northallerton husbandman, for the appearance of James Armstrong at the next Quarter Sessions as father of the bastard child of Mary Harrison of Salton in the parish of Salton singlewoman, which when born is likely to be chargeable to the township of Salton

Undated certificate of the churchwarden and overseer of the parish of Salton that Mary Harrison of Salton was delivered of a bastard daughter on 22 June 1791, and is not yet in a fit state of health to appear before a Justice. James Armstrong the father and his brother are joined in a recognizance to appear at the Sessions at Guisborough on 12 July 1791. The churchwarden, overseer and constable hope that the recognizance will be continued until the matter can be settled.
