Administrative history | To ascertain the number of men and vessels engaged in inland navigation, the Act of 1795 (35 George III cap. 58) provided that vessels were to be registered with the Clerk of the Peace or with the Town Clerk. Certificates were issued to owners and an abstract sent to the Admiralty. All the vessels registered in the North Riding were plying on navigations to and from New Malton. |
