Administrative historyLists were submitted to the Clerk of the Peace by the Clerks to the Justices (in Petty Sessions) of petty or parish constables appointed under an Act of 1842 (5 & 6 Victoria cap. 109, s. 14). These lists were to be laid before Quarter Sessions.
