Summary of case: [Includes case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/5739 and NRCC/CL 9/1/4894] Wilkinson had been granted two temporary exemptions the latest finished on 1 September 1918. Wilkinson has his own business and employed one man, aged 70, and a boy. There is a demand for clogs ‘owing to the high price and scarcity of leather and I cannot accept all the orders I have offered.’ There will be a serious shortage of clogs if he has to join the army as his business will have to close. Wilkinson fells all his own timber and the 1000 cubic feet of wood will go rotten if not worked. The occupation is a certified one and Wilkinson states that it is in the national interests for his to continue in his current occupation. The solicitor has missed the application for a further exemption and this is granted by the Military Representative. On 22 Aug 1918. Granted to apply for a further exemption [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/4228]
