Summary of case: [Includes case papers referenced 682 - NRCC/CL 9/1/682] Jones had applied to the Central Tribunal for an exemption certificate under Section 9 (2) of the representative of the People Act 1918. On 17 April 1919 the reply from the Central Tribunal states: ‘I am desired by the Central Tribunal to say that the Hon. Secretary of the Friend’s Ambulance Unit has called their attention to his subsequent correspondence with you on this matter, and has forwarded to them the certificate given by you and dated 2 April, 1919. Further consideration has been given to the case and I am directed to ask that you will be good enough to inform the Central Tribunal, in order that they may be in a position to determine whether they can now alter their previous decision, whether your Tribunal now wish them to understand that the opinion of the Hon Secretary of the Friend’s Ambulance Unit, which appears to be un-contradicted is evidence which satisfies your tribunal.’ On 2 June 1919 the Central Tribunal issued Cyril Trevor Jones with a certificate of exemption under the Representation of the People’s Act 1918, as Jones had carried out work of national importance during the war. On 2Jun 1919. Certificate issued under the People’s Act 1918
