Summary of case: [Includes case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/577] Rundle had appealed to the Central Tribunal in May 1916.He stated he is a conscientious objector and that although he would not take part in any military service he was willing to carry out ‘civil work of public utility’. He would look for such work and then apply to the Board of Trade Committee for leave to undertake said work. This appeal had been refused by the North Riding Appeal Tribunal. However, further correspondence shows that the North Riding Appeal tribunal granted absolute exemption from Military Service on 19 June 1918. Rundle was to find work of national importance within four weeks of the decision. In July 1918 Rundle went to The YMCA training school in London. The YMCA also informed the Pelham Committee that Rundle had been accepted for service in London from 6 July 1918.
