Summary of case: [Includes case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/5559] Walter Harland, solicitor, stated in this appeal that: ‘The man is 45 years of age with a wife and five children. Three of the latter are solely dependent and the other two are partly dependent. He is a skilled man. His employer has taken over the equipment of Messrs Williamson and Cowgill cabinet makers, including machinery. The man is to take charge of the workshops. He is expected to receive contracts under the Ministry of Munitions to perform important national work which incidentally will be of local benefit as it is proposed to employ a large number of women.’ The case was adjourned until the next court session to obtain a certificate from the Ministry of Munitions.
