Summary of case: [Includes case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/5791] On 19 November 1917 the local tribunal had granted an absolute exemption together with other members of the Friends Ambulance Unit on the instructions of the War Office, without the case being heard. However, ‘as the appellant has resigned from the Friends Ambulance Unit the tribunal considered that in fairness to other claimants, the case should be gone into, and varied the exemption stated on the notice of review.’ Note on case papers dated 2 Nov 1918 states that Meek is seriously ill with influenza.
