Summary of case: [Includes case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/5478] Previous to food restrictions Piercy ran a lucrative butchery business, which he was forced to close. Since the closure of his business he is now undertaking work of national interest working in agriculture, felling trees. His wife is of a most delicate health. The national service representative argued that Piercy was grade 1 fit, Piercy has only recently been employed in felling timber and his domestic circumstances do not cause serious hardship. 3 July 1918, National Service Representative appeal upheld.
