Appeal led in similar terms to North Riding appeal tribunal submitted on 14 March 1916. Statement of local tribunal giving reasons for their decision – “Applicant did not satisfy the local tribunal at their meeting as to the sincerity of his written statement of his conscientious objection. It should also be noted that the principals of his firm (The Coal Distillation Company – distinctly a firm of German capital, men and sympathies) did not claim exemption for him.”
