Summary of Case: Green is head gamekeeper for Viscount Downe at Hutton Buscel. In the appeal to the local tribunal, Alec Douglas, Lord Downe’s agent, stated that Green was necessary to support the shoots on which the estate’s finances relied. The local tribunal allowed him three months to cover the shooting season. The recruiting officer objected and appealed to the North Riding Appeal Tribunal who dismissed this appeal upholding the decision of the local tribunal. They also refused the recruiting officer permission to appeal the case to the Central Tribunal.
