Four of my office staff are already in the army, and in addition to my ordinary work I am acting as Honorary Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant’s Advisory Committee of the North Riding Regiment of volunteers and also as Quartermaster to the Regiment. I have undertaken to assist the War Office land agent in all compensation cases in the York manoeuver area.”
