Summary of case: Wood needed Johnson to stay as he said it would be impossible to fulfil all plough fitting and repair requirements in the area. He had already lost men and was behind with orders prior to ‘seed time’. The local tribunal disagreed, considering Wood could manage to carry on his business without Johnson. They did allow an extension to 1 Oct 1916 1916, which was to be final. Wood then appealed again by letter 25 September 1916 but this was refused on 10 Oct 1916.
