Summary of Case: I’Anson had been granted a one month exemption on 30 Mar 1916. He applied for, and was granted, a further three month exemption from 4 May 1916. I’Anson worked as a shepherd on a 400 acre farm. The military representative appealed the decision on the grounds that I’Anson was under the age of 25 years and therefore should not have been exempt under the regulations. He also thought that I’Anson was not a full time shepherd.
