Summary of case: Foreman of Nunnington Estate of 3,000 acres with 16 farms and 80 cottages. In charge of six men, the youngest being 58 and the oldest 80. Cawood is responsible for all the land drains on the farms, and also for the drains of the houses and cottages. ‘Owing to Mr Rutson’s advanced age and infirmity the Hall is occupied by the caretaker only and Cawood is therefore responsible for the superintendence of the gardens, including an acre of vegetable garden and for 17 acres of land in hand, of which 4 are in potatoes.’ [Case papers for NRCC/CL 9/1/5623 included with these papers]
