The North Riding Appeal Tribunal dismissed hi appeal and granted him temporary exemption to 1July 1918. In order to make another appeal against this decision the appellant had to be granted leave to appeal against the decision of the tribunal from the Director General of National service which he was granted. He also stated that the altered regulations by the Ministry of National service stated that working builders were now included in the list of certified occupations.
