Summary of case: Hill, a butcher at a shop in Gillygate, York, had been given exemption at the local tribunal in June1918 to 6 Aug 1918 with an intimation that leave would not be granted to a further application on the same facts. It was considered that the 900 customers at Hill's shop could be transferred to the two other shops of the employing firm. The only fresh fact put forward on 13 Aug 1918 was that Hill is now helping with the business of another butcher who has recently joined the Force.
