Summary of case: Zimmerman is a restaurant and catering manager for Joseph
Terry and Sons in York. He is in the Volunteer Training Corps since their start, holding the rank of Company Quartermaster Sergeant. On the 18 June 1918 the local tribunal granted temporary exemption to 20 Dec 1918 conditional upon him remaining in the Volunteer Corps. A further appeal was made but this time by the National Service Representative. The North Riding Appeal Tribunal decided to change the exemption to 1 Sept 1918. Frank Terry appealed against this decision on 12 Aug 1918 stating that his employers have found it impossible to find anyone to replace him.
