The national service representatives appeal was made on the grounds that this man was not indispensable as there were three tailors in Easingwold nearby. Vasey had not fulfilled the exemption condition by joining the Volunteer Training Corps. Since this exemption condition had only been announced two days previous to the military appeal it was not understood why this appeal was made.
