Summary of case: Serious business and domestic hardship would ensue if Plews was to join the army. He has no-one to manage his business which has been establishes over 80 years. He has been in the Territorials for 11 years and was mobilised on 4 August 1914, going to France April 1915. After being in the trenches for 13 months he was discharged, time expired in May 1916 and went through the battles of St Julien and Ypres. Since coming home, he has got the business sorted out, which had practically gone whilst he was in France. He is doing all the printing for the local Food Control Committee and Auction Mart.
