Age: 32
Address: 67 Hampton Street, South Bank
Occupation: Engineer
Local tribunal: Eston District Council
Central tribunal: No
Military Service Act 1916 or Attested: Attested
Grounds for appeal: Not stated
Appellant: Hugh Wilson for The Tees Valley Water Board, Municipal Buildings, Middlesbrough
Summary of case: It is necessary on the interests of the Water supply that this man should remain in his present occupation, which it is claimed is a certified one. The Board have only three men employed in the District including, South Bank, Grangetown, Normanby, Eston, Wilton, Ormesby and other Parishes, and our staff is so reduced in other places that if the man is taken, we have no one to take his place. Enclosed is a Schedule showing the number of days worked in each week by Charles Pringle since October 1917, from which will be seen how exceedingly heavy his work has been, especially during the present summer. There is a large Military Cap at Wilton, ad it is necessary that the water supply here should not be interfered with which might be the case if this man is taken, and a breakdown should occur to the Pumping Plant supplying the place.
