In January 1918 this was renewed to 31 July 1918. Sharp appeals for a further extension stating that: 11 out of 14 employed by the pawnbroker have already joined up and Dalton is the only man left who knows where all the pledged goods are kept. Training takes a long time and the business is very important to the working class and poor people. Both sons joined up and one died at Gallipoli.
