Summary of case: On 25 June 1918 the local tribunal took his case in conjunction with the other men in the same trade in the city, the tribunal were of the opinion that the extent of the business did not warrant them granting an exemption beyond 20 August 1918. Atkin appealed this decision stating that he is a one man business, he cannot find anyone to carry on the business which previously employed 10-15 men all of who have joined the army now dependant on one boy under military age. He. His wife and family are entirely dependent on the business. He was examined on 18 March 1918 and was graded a 2.
