The Chief Fire Officer stated that a Firemans time is fully occupied, 24 hours a day 7 days a week living in Fire Brigade quarters close to the station. I have seen Mr W D Thomas The Military Representative here, who has no objection to him not joining the Volunteer Force, I have written to the volunteer Headquarters on the advice of Mr W D Thomas and the stated case but received no reply. The local tribunal had given Lord a temporary exemption on condition h. Hustler states that it is not in the national interest that a young man 30 years of age who has been passed fit for General Service should any longer remain in civil employment as a fireman in the service of Middlesbrough Corporation Fire Brigade. The local tribunal removed the condition.
